I would appreciate any information or insights about determining a daily caloric amount for maintenance of weight. As I approach my goal weight, I’d like to start wrapping my head around this. Thanks in advance!

If you know what number of calories you are eating now then some people find their maintenance weight by adding about 100 calories a week and weighing in each week. Once the scale starts going up you have hit maintenance calories. Depending how much muscle you have and how drastic your restricted calories were it could be quite a bit higher caloric count to maintain. ( example 1400 for weight loss and 2000 for maintenance )

Thanks caperbike - so if I’m at 1300 RDI now, what you’re saying is I could go up to 1400 initially a day for a week and monitor the scale? Then go up again…until I notice the weight go up.
