160to115pounds's Journal, 08 Jul 11

Weighed in at 140.8 lbs today.
I'm not going to record a weigh in though - I am waiting for my 16th birthday on the 25th of July. Hopefully will be under 140 by then!
I also bought some coconut oil today in order to up my fat intake. It says refined for medium to high heat on the jar - but it's organic and contains no trans-fats. Was this a poor choice?
Well, either way - it's something new.
I have work tonight, and I'm dreading going because it's so beautiful outside... Oh well. You gotta do what you gotta do.
I think my goal to be 130 lbs by the end of summer is achievable. If anybody's reading this, what do you think?

I think because you are young it will happen as long as you stick to the plan and get exercise. It's much easier to lose weight the younger and more active you are! I wish I could record 140, but it will be at least 4 weeks before I see a number that low.

I'm sure you're more than aware that young women grow and develop at various rates, taking some of them well into their 20's. It's extremely important for you to have proper nutrition for this growth and development. Have your parents taken you to talk with your family doctor about what would be a healthy weight for you at this point in your life? There's a separate, different BMI (body mass index) calculator for children and teens. It's called (not surprisingly) the BMI Calculator for Children and Teens and can be found on the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) website. I did a rough estimate, making some assumptions on the site, and saw that a healthy weight for a 16-year old female begins about 139 and can go down from there, somewhat. I did the calculation based on you already being 16, so there's some degree of error there. While it's certainly commendable and responsible to be concerned with keeping yourself at a healthy body weight, that's exactly where the emphasis should be....on being at a healthy weight. There's so much more to any young woman than their weight and outward appearance. Good luck.

Thanks for your comments guys! I will definitely keep going and of course make sure I get my supplements! Also, have talked to my family doctor. He said that he wasn't worried about me when I was at 140 lbs. I don't know why - as this is considered overweight.

I am proud that you recognize the need to eat healthy, following the atkins program will teach you how to eat properly and given the fact that your Dad has lost over 60 pounds just goes to show he too is learning how to eat to be healthy too.I wish i had learned about Atkins much sooner in life. You don't want to spend your life hiding behind your clothes being miserable.Use the Atkins site for your best information and good job for checking in with your Dr.
