It's been awhile, hasn't it? I ended up returning to Canada with my husband and two cats, living in Toronto as I get my RDH recertification. I'm working as a dental receptionist at the moment, and while some days are really good, some days it's a huge learning curve, but I'm trying to be positive throughout.
Toronto is a very walkable and pedestrian friendly city, just have to watch out for wild drivers and even wilder cyclists. I average 2.5 miles a day, and because my ulcerative colitis isn't being entirely managed right now (I'm in the process of getting a specialist), I'm extremely careful in what I eat. Most days it's the same thing, and burning about 150 calories a day in walking helps. I think my cardiovascular system is doing better. But I wish I could enjoy some of the lovely food this huge city has to offer.
I'm down to 150 lbs for the first time in over 4 years. But it kind of worries me, as the last time I hit this weight, my body decides to flare, my intestines were in extreme pain, blood and pus with every bowel movement; 7-8 BMs a day. It hasn't become that just yet for me, but I live in fear of it happening. My disease ate through all my fat reserves and then went for my muscles next. I dropped from a healthy 145 lbs to 119 lbs, and I looked like death. I don't want to go back there, no matter what. I guess I'm reminiscent because today I hit 150 lbs and it's causing me to worry "Is this it?" as my body is already dealing with deep fatigue and low iron.
I need to eat more beef liver. I love liver.
