My daughter and I walked the dog tonight. We didn't start our walk until 9:30pm and the temperature was still 90 degrees. We walked three miles and it did get a little cooler as we went. We walked for an hour so it wasn't the fastest pace, but we did have a good time talking. I never realized she didn't know how I became a Christian, especially since my parents are not and forbid me to go to church once they found out I made that decision. So it was a really nice walk, despite the heat.
We have both been stuck at our weight for a few weeks so we decided to be more serious about our exercise and to extend the length we walk. Our older dog died last week and it has been a hard week to keep from eating the wrong things. I do tend to eat for comfort. I made some different recipes that are low carb, but higher in the sugar substitutes than we are probably allowed. I really did try to keep it under control, but that is probably why I am stuck right now at this weight. I need to apologize to my friend at the church who has offered me sugar every week we have had Bible study, and when we are working together with the kids. Today, at our Bible study, before I even gave it any thought I spit out "You know that is the same as offering a beer to an alcoholic." I regretted it the moment the words were out. I must say church is the worst place for the food temptations and people trying to encourage you away from the food choices you are trying to make. I have been avoiding the events that are surrounded with the food, which means I have been avoiding most of what our church is doing. That in itself is really depressing and makes me want to eat comfort foods. I am just so disappointed and angry with myself for not having better self-control when faced with the food temptations and people's encouragements to break with my diet plan.
