Down a little again, which is good. The scale, I think, is teasing me with approaching 220 without reaching or passing under it.
Yesterday, Gail and I went to see Die Walküre broadcast live in HD from the Met. It wasn't over when the fat lady sang (the fat lady, Stephanie Blythe, who performed Fricka, sang in the first act), as Lisa suggested. The opera was emotionally very powerful, and, I thought, very well sung. Bryn Terfel was a mighty Wotan, Deborah Voigt a compelling Brunnhilde. I wasn't so sure about the chap who sang Siegmund (the problem about HD on a big screen is that it allows us to see the spittle in his mouth as he sings).
The Walkurentritt at the opening of the third act was magnificent, as were the Valkyries riding off into the sunset (a nice piece of stagework) when Wotan dismisses them when he is punishing Brunnhilde for defying him.
Because we went to see the opera at the Fork & Screen in Buckhead, I had a 'pizzetta' (a small pizza) as my lunch. That was my first meal out in a while. I was able to hold my consumption yesterday to under 2,000 calories, nonetheless, and, happily, my weight is lower today than yesterday. A good start to the week.
