Wow. I got off my diet for _one meal_, ate 1700 cals one day and I gain a pound. I can see when I'm done with weight loss that I'm not going to have a lot of wiggle room. I'm going to have to stay at 1300 calories if I don't exercise.

That doesn't mean it's a real gain. Any time you eat a little more than usual, the scale will most likely go up the next day. But it can also help with loss sometimes. Give it a couple of days and you may be down 2 or 3.
