SarahLeanne's Journal, 04 Apr 11

Last week was a total and complete disappointment! I only went to the gym ONCE! My eating habits have also been pretty dismal, I think the freedom that I've given myself to eat when I'm hungry has turned into freedom to eat whatever I want, whenever I want. One interesting development is that my mother-in-law (who the hubs and I are living with right now) has been advised by her doctor to lose 30 lbs before she undergoes knee surgery later this year. She has always had pretty bad eating and cooking habits, and is very picky, but we are now trying to take on a healthier lifestyle as a family. I think this will be good for both her and I, since I can share advice and knowledge about weight loss, and she will finally be more empathetic to my needs concerning diet and exercise. The hardest part has been convincing her husband to get on board. He is a cyclist and is 'naturally thin' (and has been recently diagnosed with hyper-thyroidism) and can eat whatever he wants while still losing or maintaining a healthy weight. He also has a sweet tooth, loves salty foods, and is so set in his ways (or accustomed, if I'm being nice) that he gets upset if there aren't cookies in the house or salty meals on the table. Luckily, everyone else in the family is being incredibly supportive and helpful, and I'm sure that he will follow suit eventually.

So today after work I'll be starting Week 3 of the C25K plan AGAIN, I think for the 4th time, and I WILL GO TO THE GYM 2 MORE TIMES THIS WEEK! After dinner I will have some delicious mango and pineapple instead of ice cream. I will NOT buy the Peanut Butter M&Ms that I've been craving for the last few days, since I already ate a handful of chocolate chips today and that is more than enough sugar for one day! Now is as good a time as ever to get back on track and be proactive about my health again!
