ATrueStarGoddess's Journal, 31 Mar 11

Alright so... My doctor put me on metformin because of my high sugar/insulin levels. I'll be starting the medication tomorrow. Today I ate a healthy breakfast and will be sticking to healthy eating habits because of what my doctor said. "You know... just to clarify how serious this is... if I didn't already know that you had PCOS, I would diagnose you as diabetic. And quite frankly, if this went on for about 6 more months, you would be..." holy s**t. Sorry for the vulgarity but, F THAT!!! It's time I get a good hold on my health - I'm too young for this.

By the way - If anyone is interested, I'll be starting up videos on YouTube to share my journey and to help keep myself honest and on track. I do way better when someone's kicking my butt haha. Thanks :D

Wow, that will get anyone's attention! Sounds like you've got a good plan and the right motivation. Best of luck to you going forward. Will you eventually be following Atkins or another WOE?

Thanks, Sandy! I'm gonna give calorie counting another go since it worked for me last time, this way I can still eat almost anything, but focus on portion control. :)

Just a hint, Metformin is rough on the stomach and will be your best diet buddy as it hates CARBS....I am happy on Metformin, even though I feel nasueous every day...I lost 23 lbs in 2 months, had a baby and it really helped my PCOS....I am now reaqdy to get back on it, why I ever went off is unknown...WW didn't work and neither does counting calories...Atkins is the only thing that has ever worked for sustantial weight loss.. Good luck to you!!
