I decided it's time get serious about this. I'm 55 with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I'm slowly losing my ability to walk. The weight needs to go before it cripples me. Stayed under 1500 calories today and took a small walk but the pain is incredible.

@loosebuttons is right, it’s just math. You’ll do great if you use the numbers to guide you. When you do, you’ll build momentum in other areas of your life as well. Find an exercise that works for you, stay active, get lots of fresh air. You’ve got this.

Just exercise as much as you can but don’t overdo it because you don’t want to cause a fibro flare up

I can't imagine the suffering you are going through, but I can promise you that regardless of exercise, eating better will already make you lose extra weight.

Being morbidly obese for decades my ever single best and successful motivation for losing weight and maintain is that i was heading to a short coming knee replacement. The very exact time i realised that no pill would save my knees i changed, lost all the extra weight, saved my knees and never looked back. Reading your post i felt sad. It reminded me my past. I am 54 yo too. I thought it takes a miracle to lose weight. It does not. As soon as you find your own personal motivation you will find your own way to lose weight and you won't believe it is happening but it will be true. I wish you the best deep from within my heart.

Thank you everyone. I see pain as a fact of life, sometimes it's just overwhelming though. The support is appreciated.

Are you logging your food? If you don't want to share, you can make it private.

If you have access to a warmer water pool and like to swim or at least paddle around, it is magic for joints

I am logging food. I'm in a small town in northern Maine. Not much pool access. I miss living in Florida, only for the constant pool access I had.
