GettingThinnerAndFitter's Journal, 25 Jun 14

Been a bad two days.
Yesterday was oldests play at school so grabbed a burger and chips from caffeteria as "supper" yet still had pizza and yoghurt when I got home.

And now today the whole team got burger king and I wasn;t strong enough to resist.......

hitting the gym hard tonight, having only yoghurt for supper and doing a clean weekend.........we'll see what the damage is on Monday again.

Can anyone explain how the calorie calc works.

I get the RDI - that's fine.
But if I do a simple run and a bike ride it says I burnt 2501 calories? how is that possible? that leaves me with a negative balance?!

BTW - has anyone ever used "teff"? It's a low/no GI porridge that's supposedly super high in protein - well froma vegeterian point of view.

the cycling actually only burnt 129 and 322 calories in total with the jogging as well. which is more realistic. but we also use calories for activities of daily living. even while sleeping we burn a bit of energy. it is much less than when doing exercise but they take that into account here as well. if you did 10 hours of cycling you would burn much more calories than when sleeping for 10 hours. i don't know how accurate it is on this site but it seems like it correlates with most other sites as well. wether one should take it into consideration, i'm also not sure. but if you do good exercise for more than 30 minutes 5 days a week and try and eat "clean" (i hate that word) then you should be doing well. try not logging driving and desk work. i do it when i write exams just to make myself feel better for only sitting 14 hours a day but generally it is unnecessary and makes you think you have burnt a lot. i know you have not done that but believe me it gets tempting when you see everyone doing it! this probably didn't answer your questions though...sorry!

Thanks for the response Daisy - at least you took the time and I appreciate that. So no need for sorry. I just don't see hpw that little excercise even with sleep etc could burn that much. If it was so you could eat as you like and be thin!!
