Really? 1.5 lbs weight loss, after swimming 2x and walking at least an hour a day?. Cutting out alcohol and all the naughty's. I expected a 2 or 3 or maybe a delightful surprise of 4lbs...

Makes me want to throw the scale off through the window.

I have to refocus on the words... FOCUS, DETERMINATION AND ESPECIALLY PATIENCE. And have faith that it'll happen for me, if I stick through it.

another one DONT GIVE UP.

It's not that I didn't enjoy the activities and suffered through them. It's that I expected a result. Maybe its the way we live where we have instant gratification. Although enjoyable, these activities are such a far cry from what I usually do, which is read and watch tv.

I do however question what will happen when I get there. How will I cope?
I don't know, but at least I now have the vision of getting there. And 'there' is being able to buy small clothes, and putting away small clothes, and being girlish and reigning in my femininity which was lost when the pounds set in.

I too would like to wear flimsy dresses, and high heels and feel like a girl, instead of the tent style clothes I now have.

I congratulate overweight women who could, but I couldn't.

OH my main word for this year is 'TRANSFORMATION' and at doing whatever it takes. I must not get discouraged.

Peri, menopause and post-menopausal. We're screwed. Short and sweet. Things we could do 20 years ago are memories. As are the hormones. It's going to happen. Just stick with it.

Keep working...the scales sometime lie but your clothes will not. When you're doing the right things for your body, you are bound to see positive results!

CR, I keep trying to turn that clock around so I can do the things I used to do!!! I just keep pushing and lots of it I find I can do, maybe not at the same rate but I can do it. I have a friend who is a few years older and she keeps telling me I can't do things because I'm too old. She has been a rock for me through many things over the past 12 years, I feel badly that I've been avoiding talking to her. Her negativity really gets to me. If you want to do something go for it! You might surprise yourself!!!

Any type of calorie reduction or diet even Atkins is all based on 1500-1700 calories which equates to 1-2 lbs of weight loss per week :)

@Roch I did Atkins in my 30's and lost a whole bunch of weight. Actually, it's the only diet that I followed through. And I lost weight eating bacon, eggs, 35% cream in my coffee with sweetener a lot of fat. I'm sure I surpassed 1700 calories. I think I lost 9 lbs the first 2 weeks. (induction period) But, it wasn't sustainable and in the back of my mind questioned it's health implications. (I certainly wasn't doing it the Right way) And truth be told, it's since that diet that I've never been able to lose quickly. I wonder if I created a sensitivity to sugar, whereas as soon as I have sugar, I gain. It was the only diet where I succeeded in losing all of my weight - ever! But I now do believe in low carb dieting. I think spikes in sugar is what creates hunger. And I don't believe all calories are created equal. I think they metabolise differently in your body.

Maunikmtl You 've expressed EXACTLY how I feel and what I have experienced ! I had read this post yesterday and the responses and it helped me not give up but slog it through. I had hit this plateau for three weeks now floating around 204 -206 and FINALLY this morning 203.2 !!!

Hang in there. Could be 'fluid' retention issues. Also, how many calories taken in versus exercise. Could be building muscle? It's never a smooth road.

Whole. Doing more now then I did 15 years ago. And loving it.

Me too!! I got lazy when I moved into the city in 1996 after 20+ years of the country. This past year has been a year to change all that!!
