As I had to 'weigh in' in order to report my progress on the 4-Minute Push-up Challenge, I thought, "Oh WTH. I'll just hop on the scale and see..." which is against what I said I'd do. Ok...sue me.

But, it showed a 2 pound loss. So, just like my ranting from last week, I went ahead and adjusted my 'goal weight' again. I'm right where I want to be...again.

Life continues to be crazy, but it's "happy crazy". The kiddos are healthy and happy. They are looking forward to summer break. I, too, will welcome the break from homework. However, I'm one of those moms that insists that summer is still a time to learn. We'll do plenty of reading, and I'd like to work on a little geography with the 6 year old. As for my little 16-month old, she's absorbing so much every day. We've taught both our kids "baby sign language" so it wonderful to see her use 'words' with us. It seems she's learning a new 'sign' a week lately...even putting sentences together ("more" "milk" "please"). She's learning that we really applaud "please" and she is getting used to getting what she wants as long as she adds that to the end.

Hubbie will be on a 10-hour midnight shift all summer :-( It's nice that he's home to have dinner with us, but it puts the bedtime and morning routine on me. I try not to complain. He works hard and doesn't need the guilt. And, of course, being in law enforcement, those hours are never in stone...I'm sure there will be many hours of overtime. It's hard to see the toll this job takes on him, but he seems to not notice it the way I do.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what's in store for us this summer. In the past, we've been able to travel, backpack, tour, etc. But, this summer looks to be one we'll have to commit to more local activities. I'll do my best to remind myself that some people travel great distances to visit where I live, and I should get out and enjoy those sites, too.

I guess I just needed to ramble a bit. I've been feeling like I'm in "Groundhog's Day" lately. Actually, I explained it to my husband the other day that I feel like I'm on a treadmill lately...constantly moving but not getting anywhere. We really do work hard to just keep up lately. Our story is no different than any working family, but it's still nice to voice the frustration sometimes.

So, I'm heading to the gym again on yet another lunch hour. Glad I have you all on FS to keep me accountable.

Having taken this opportunity to journal makes me feel a little lighter already. If you've read all this...thanks for listening.

I feel ya! We are dealing with some financial strain this year, along with me starting nursing school it doesn't leave a whole lot of room for getting out and about. Trying to learn how to be happy with the blessings I have instead of wanting something else. It does help to vent. You're doing a great job of taking control of what you can though, your health. Congrats on another good loss :-) Have a wonderful day!

My hubby is in law enforcement too and works an overnight shift, but it actually works really well for us. My kids are 12 and 9, so they are okay home during the day while he's sleeping, so no babysitter for summer break. And I've gotten used to being the bedtime and breakfast person, it gets easier as they get older. I'm glad to hear things are "happy crazy", great way to put it! Sounds like you're on the right track health wise, so just keep going. :)

Thanks for the comments, ladies. It does feel good to get these thoughts out of my mind...makes me feel less 'alone' in the battle. And thanks, Mar, for reminding me that it gets easier as they get older. I'm thankful to be blessed with good kids...Lord knows what I'd do if they weren't.

I am hoping to be able to do a few things with my kiddos as well this summer. The vacation we planned on taking will have to wait until next year with hubby switching jobs since he will have to build up vacation time. O well at least we should still be able to do some camping. I plan on getting on Pinterest and finding some fun, creative ways for my kids to learn as well this summer. Hopefully time slows down a smidge because since I had Hope I blink and a day has gone by

Oh Iama...I really shouldn't complain, should I? How do you do it with 6?!?! Seeing you comment made me smile. God never gives us more than we can handle...and He always seems to give us "just enough".

Yep if God brings you to it, He will get you through it. Plus 6 kids isn't as hard as people would think. After three it is just another person to feed and bring joy to the family. I honestly can't wait to see how many God blesses us with. :)
