Good Morning Everyone...Here's an interesting story that works off Matt55's glycogen physiological lesson: Southern New England (and Long Island) saw an S-ton of snowfall Thursday morning (I promise, I'll stop complaining about it soon. Pitchers and catchers report in 16 days). I weighed myself Wednesday night and I was, at most, minus-1 from Monday. I took care of the snow yesterday morning and weighed myself after my shower and I was minus-7!!! This morning I was back up to about minus-3. I did not consume too much yesterday and I drank more than my fair share of water. What lesson did I take from it? The scale is one of many tools to a healthier life. It should not be used alone and hourly/daily fluctuations should be ignored. It reaffirmed my practice of recording my weigh-ins only once a week.

Interesting stuff but I'm sure the -7 make you smile from ear to ear. +3 since then isn't a major deal. Still sounds like you are doing fabulous so keep it up! I agree, getting on the scale every day can be wearisome. Thanks for the example!

Thanks Bren and Dsylikm. It's funny. While my wife was happy for me this morning, she was a little down because I am winning our "Biggest Loser" thing that we have going. She does Weight Watchers and has made steady progress herself. Sometimes she gets discouraged that it not at the same percentage as me. Nevermind that I still outweigh her by a solid 70+ pounds. I reminded her that we don't weigh in 'til Monday and I have my allowable calorie spike day coming up. But I've already journalized my food today and I plan on 40 minutes on the bike tonight. Just trying to work the plan.

Ouch... I looked at the long term forecast (course they are lucky to get tomorrows prediction correct). But another big snow on Wed-Thursday next week? (snow-forecast.com/maps/static/appal/full). With all that snow I would be worried about what was on the roof.... that's a lot of weight. Tell you wife she really can't compete with you... just less muscle mass... less metabolisim... slower losses. That's just the way it is!

Hmm... maybe this will work: snow-forecast dotcom/maps/static/appal/full

One thing I have going regarding the roof is that I have minimal tree cover and it seems to melt regardless of the temp...C'mon, Matt, I can't tell her that. As the crushee, she pays for the challenge rewards!!! We don't do it pound for pound. we compete in terms of % of body weight and I have to lose 1.5 lbs for one of hers. It's a way to motivate ourselves and when I get to a certain point, it will be tough to safely "outlose" her week in and week out.
