Carob is a better choice for me, it seems, after dinner rather than dark chocolate as it's caffeine free. I had some with unsweetened coconut the last 2 nights, last night sprinkled over berries. And, I slept well! So, I'll be on the lookout for more carob choices! On the weekends, I really like a little treat beyond fresh fruit after dinner.
Today, I'll workout this morning, have errands & book work this afternoon but of course done only around spending time with the boys! Tonight we're taking MIL out to dinner. So far, this weekend of opportunity has gone well. Friday night was a bit of a test, as yes, Buffy, when I cook (luckily only very occasionally), I taste which was exasperated by the fact that DH & DS were delayed in traffic from the airport making dinner about an hour late. Even though I had a healthy, plated snack to hold me, I was still too hungry when we finally sat down & ate more than to "just full". But, I'm happy that I'm catching myself now & getting quickly back to mindfulness when that happens. I read something along those lines as I'm working on the last chapter from my mindful eating retreat -- "the moment you become aware that you are mindless, you become mindful." The trick is to then eat mindfully from that point on, rather than think I've blown it & continue until the next day, next Monday, etc. as I'd done in the past. Friday night, I did just that & got back on with my mindful eating roadway building pronto.
And today, my "Transition Sunday", I'll plan on the same. I'll have a healthy seafood & vegetable dinner when we're out, followed by a plated fruit and/or carob & coconut dessert if I choose. Then the kitchen is closed & bring on Ellen and the Oscars. 5P's it is (pause, plate, progress not perfection & prayer), starting now with that last but certainly not least P… the serenity prayer --
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.
And, I'll Pray, breathe, journal, log & express my way through this one day & each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion. I'm so grateful for each of Beautiful you (inside & out), my family & IRL friends, a change in the weather forecast to little snow tonight/tomorrow, and having both boys home & a family dinner out tonight with the health & wealth to live this life I love! xoxox
