Julie Nims's Journal, 07 Feb 14

So yesterday went well. I live in Eugene, Oregon and right now we are having a "snow apocalypse". Usually Oregon gets a couple of inches of snow a year and its always a big deal. In December we got 7inches and it stayed for over a week. In the last 2 days we've got about 7 inches yet again. Now to most this isn't a big deal but Oregon, and especially Eugene (being outside Portland's metropolis) we just don't have the infrastructure for snow. People cannot drive because their cars are not equip for driving in the snow. We have very few plows and we just plain are not used to it. I ventured out and got some supplies for food. I ended up eating very little yesterday. I just wasn't very hungry. In hindsight I needed more vegetables and that is my challenge for today. I can tel I am getting in the grove of Atkins but I checked the scale today and I haven't even lost a pound. Its discouraging but I am going to keep going because I feel great.

snowpocalypse? or snowmageddon? I live in VA and we experienced the same thing back in 2010. Those were the two terms that had me laughing so hard! Anyhow, eating vegetables is a challenge for me too. But I oven fried some zucchini chips tonight and even my kids liked it. Try not to be discouraged...focus on feeling great and take it one day at a time. Baby steps!
