Random thought that I’d like to see what people on FS think when it come to their weight loss journey.

Do you consider yourself to be on a diet? Or

Do you consider yourself to embracing a lifestyle change with food?

Personally, having looked back at my previous attempts, I’ve always failed when I think I’m just dieting. Almost like it was only supposed to be temporary, like getting beach bod ready. But, since I’ve changed my approach I’m finding more success and that’s with all the restrictions on gyms. I’m enjoying the foods I’m eating. I don’t miss eating takeaways and eating the unhealthy foods. Of course I allow myself the occasional treat but I don’t go overboard and then instantly feel I have to diet even more to make up for it.

What are you thoughts......I’m curious.

Diet don't work only lifestyle changes?

That has been my experience but others may agree or disagree. I think it’s down to a persons perception. But, I’m interested to know peoples thoughts.

If diets worked there wouldn't be so many companies selling wonder solutions?

I do 'diet' but it isn't really going on a diet as such. It is a tightening up of standards that have slipped allowing too many calories to creep in. So I cut back on the naughties which, for me, consists of chocolate, alcohol, massive portions, crisps.

hey Chris! I know what my brain is like so I'm overhauling my whole lifestyle,,when I stopped smoking 2yrs ago I kept a packet with a couple in it in my drawer and when I reached for them I would tell myself 'il have one later', if I had none in the house id be climbing the walls, I still have that packet, so with food I'm trying to do the same, and maybe have a glass of water and distract myself, seems to be working as I hardly snack now and I was a grazer!

I feel exactly the same, the whole way I look at what I’m eating has changed and it has felt easier this way. It also makes you savour the food you do eat when not overindulging

Just decided to eat what I like but have a limit on daily calories, Saturday night is whatever I fancy. Obviously I’m being healthy and packing in the fruit veg and salad but having tasty meals as I can’t cut things out just cut them down. I’m doing dry January and no chocolate and crisps just for the month after a huge blow out over Christmas x x

I'm on a Keto diet, but for me, it's a new way of eating for life. "Diet" doesn't necessarily have to be a bad word. Personally, I prefer the definition "food and drink regularly provided or consumed".

I’ve started just as a food diary really to learn where the calories stack up? I do want to lose weight and this app has made me look at the snacking aspect or the boredom grazing which has proved to be the biggest issue with extra calories for me
