I’m learning that the hardest part of this to me is alcohol. It’s hard for me to completely give up alcohol because it’s one way I like to unwind after my days which include waking up at 3am for a work out followed by a 8-& hour day at work, then homework for 2-3 hours and then making and cleaning up dinner. It’s that one hour out of a long the day for ME. It’s hard giving that up but I know alcohol is one of the easiest ways to get that calorie count up and I don’t think my body metabolizes it well either. Tonight it’s two shots of my favorite bourbon with 8oz of Coke Zero. Any sympathizers or pointers on how to break the habit? Lol

maybe switch to having a glass of wine instead? Wine has antioxidants in it

Know that you're adding calories with much benefit. I go several days without and then I'll have my favorite adult beverage as a reward. If you want that daily cocktail, its about 200 additional calories. Factor it into your daily goal. Nothing you enjoy should be completely off the menu.

...without much benefit...

Take a solid day of the week to relax, even if that means giving yourself more chores throughout the week. That day of rest will make facing the rest of the week much less stressful. Then you won't feel the need to shut off for an hour every night using alcohol. It makes a world of a difference. For me, I take Saturdays to sleep in until 12, only clean up in the most basic ways (put my dishes straight in the dishwasher, clothes in the laundry bin if I shower, etc.), and bum all day. Then Sunday I clean the house well and do all the house chores. I go into my week rested amd with a clean home to come back from work to. Makes a world of a difference. To boot, the cleaning is a good calorie killer.

I love a glass (or two) of wine while I am cooking dinner, so I sympathize. For me I think that the alcohol turning to sugar in my body is the destructive part. When I REALLY want to lose weight, I find it very hard to do without giving up ALL sweets and high carbs. Today is my third day "without". Before that was 3 days with wine, after a few days without. For me it is a matter of determination. In other words, dieting for me is in my "head". But commitment is tough. A half scoop of ice cream has caused me to fall off the wagon for an entire year. I will lose my weight in the next six months, but I have always been lousy with maintenance. Five sizes up one year, five sizes down the next year. This is my down year. No guarantees about next year. Drinking water and eating a red bell pepper while making dinner works for me, and prayer for my anxiety.

I haven’t found a way to add in alcohol without beating myself up over it. I used to have a couple drinks on the weekend but now I don’t do that or have lunch with my friends. I’m having a hard time with being excluded

I am right there with you! The best I've been able to do is have a few abstinence nights per week. I'm cheering for you.

I find that problem as well. I can go most of the week without it, then have a blow out. More than two drinks and it’s party time.....every time. Bugger.
