Okay, here goes again...another diet! I sure wish my metabolism would just race and I would never have to worry about this, but that will never happen. I am addicted to carbs, it seems, and I need to limit them. As with anything, when you limit stuff, it becomes more appealing. I cannot allow that to happen again (Jordan almonds) because I lose my fight (Skittles) against willpower. You see, it is happening, I constantly am bombarded with sugar thoughts! I am a serial sugar addict!!! Heehee Please help me win this time, I am tired of buying bigger clothes and my closet is smashed with small sizes of everything!!! Pray for me and my strength (Snickers, Caramel corn, here we go again!) in this first week of my diet...that was supposed to start on January 1st, by the way! ;~D

I wish you luck. Reading your profile reminds me that so many of our lives mirror one another. Atkins will work for you if you are able to avoid the temtations. It's only drawback is that it takes about two weeks for it to really kick in, but that also helps many of us. (It makes it harder to cheat when you know you will lose so much of your progress up until that point). Know that no matter how far you think you have to go, it's only the current week you need to worry about. Sign up for challenges (for extra motivation). Weigh in weekly, choose some buddies to keep up with and this sight will work wonders for you. Again I wish you the best. PS-when my kids moved out I turned one of their rooms into a gym (best idea I ever had)

Welcome aboard!!! I love Atkins. Although I'm a slow loser, I have felt so in control of my eating since starting this. It no longer rules my life. The first 2-3 days are the hardest. After that, you will realize that you no longer have those cravings - it is really liberating!! Good luck!! And ask for our help - the Atkins group is a really active group on FS and we interact a lot - so feel free to bring up any issues - you'll get lots of feedback.

Welcome! We're pretty active on here and love to help each other stay motivated. The cravings and sugar thoughts get better after the first week or two. Just get out of the insulin cycle and into ketosis, you'll do great!

I forgot to add - if you haven't done so already - read the book!! It is the best resource available!! Especially the older additions!

the best diet for speeding your matabolism would be ATKINS. it doesn't only make your body a fat burning machine in the first 2 weeks but in the future you'll know how much carbs you can eat without gaining weight. so you'll always be aware of what your body is eating and burning and you can always keep your weight the way it is once you reach your goal weight. i've been on it for a week now and i'm burning fat like i never did before in anyother diet. and i have been trying 10s of diets for almost 5 years now. but this one actually gave me the energy to exercise everyday! and just by fighting my temptations i'm achieving something i longed to. so good luck to you. check this out if you are interested (www.atkins.com) there are information there enough to get you started and keep going. you can get the book if you want but the website is more than enough.

If you can get through those first 2 weeks, you'll be set. There's lots of recipes that use splenda; like peanut butter cookies, pancakes, etc. And once you haven't had sugar in awhile, those things taste GREAT! And then there's even the sugar-free candy like Reese's Cups, etc. So just get through induction, and you'll be fine! GOOD LUCK! YOU CAN DO IT!

You can definitely do this - it is all a mind set - give yourself a small goal to attain in ? many weeks that you could really reach and I find if you promise yourself something that is like a treat - no matter how small (ha; that doesn't involve eating) you can do it. Plan as much as you can ahead, like what your going to eat, what and how your going to exercise and away you'll go! For my first 5 lb loss I went and bought myself a new shirt for work that I had been wanting; at 10lbs I am going to get something for my vacation.... Good luck to you - you can do this and you will feel much better too!
