Janelleas's Journal, 03 Jan 09

Last night was a disaster. Party and "game night" at our house. Played Mexcian train and our friends brought food with them, we had snacks set our ourselves and there was a lot of champagne flowing for us ladies. My hubby ended up driving some of our guests home that night and we collected them back up this morning so they could retrieve their cars. We ended up all going out to breakfast together. I didn't make the best choice for breakfast but it wasn't the worst choice either. It was the toast that cost me too many calories.

I am going to exercise and do pilates and yoga while we watch the football games today. I finally have the pilates routine with bands pretty well memorized and I have some other calestenics that I will be doing. I am going to set a time on the table and hit it and time how much exercise I get in by the end of two ball games.

I have journaled my food for today so far, my exercise so far and will complete it later. This is all for the bootcamp challenge that requires daily journaling. Now, Im off for more adventure and exciting football games today. My Charger's are playing today and thats the most exciting game for me today. I use to go see the Charger's play when I lived in San Diego and my most beloved Aunt Dodo went with me when I was getting the student discount tickets. Fond memories of those days.

Sounds as if Janelleas needs my big rubberband so that she can "snap out of it." What can I say? It'll be okay. It will - you know. It will all work out in the end. You kept a level head by employing your spouse as a designated driver. You could have done better. True. You could also have done worse. Go Chargers!

I too am struggling to regain the control of my old routines....had a slice of whole wheat (not graon, dang it) toast this morning. Should have had fat free eggs instead..... Stepson is leaving back to school today so that will help, although I will miss him! I won't have reason to even have bread in the house after today!! Great job on the exercise though-use it as the launching point to regain the healthy eating/drinking habits. For me the struggle has been Margaritas! Last night was first night without one in 5 days! Good grief. I am reading about how alcohol and sugar addictions go together.....EW. Hey-I just had LCL for lunch too! Hope the Chargers win unless they are playing the Eagles, in which case, go Eagles!

You are just a party animal! Sounds like you have such a fun and wonderful life. Things WILL be better for us now that the holidays are behind us.

Chargers are playing against the colts today.. I like both team but Charger's are my "home team". The Eagles are playing against the Viking's tomorrow... I love the Eagles and the double bonus is that I hate it when the Viking's win.. I love for them to lose!! There is a personal story behind it... but suffice it to say that when the Vikings lose it ruins the day of one of the biggest narcistic jack-asses that I ever knew. I probably should be ashamed of myself for taking joy in his misery...but Im not

He-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he! You are a "cwazy lady." That's a compliment coming from one of many who has known more than a few narciscistic jack ass! NO! The narciscistic jack ass is NOT my spouse! My spouse - like your sweet hubby - is actually a nice guy!

Aw, it will get easier again. I know I'm having a bit of a struggle here trying to "behave" on the food front! But great plan of attack on the exercise front... I ought to get my bands out and give myself a good twang with one and see if that might help?!!

The Eagles are MY team mom (I know you know that) and I happen to also know that narcissistic jack ass that when the Vikings loose it ruins their whole day..in the event that their Vikings lose to my Eagles, it makes it especially hard on them so here's hoping! Last time the Eagles and the Vikings met in a play off game, Eagles won. I'm don't recall us meeting in the play offs since so this should be fun, to say the least. The Cardinals did awesome today so now I'll be watching your team play. Im doing ok with food choices since I'm just now really starting to feel better. Enjoy your weekend mom!

Sounds like you're doing pretty good in spite of all the partying! Have fun cheering on your teams!

I'm so happy to hear how much you are enjoying life Janelle, nothing is better for one's health than being happy. Don't rush things too much this week since we are still technically in the holiday season. I'm sure that when the excitement of it all passes, we will get right back down to serious business, but everything at its proper time (don't get too carried away though, I'm not trying to encourage bad behavior here). ;-) P.S. I'm doing quite well today.

I think "disaster" might be a bit of a strong word for your evening splurges. At least everyone made it home safe. That's the important thing! Great job with the exercise plan during the football games. You'll have your chart moving down real soon. I know you will!

does that rubber band snapping trick really work?? Why wouldn't you just "not" snap it if you wanted that cookie? Im not sure I understand how that works. Has anyone really tried it and had success with it?

I have used it to help "snap" out of anxiety over the small stuff. I have a feeling some of my eating is driven by anxiety, so think I will try it..can't hurt, right?

It sounds like a lot of fun, Jannellas. I'm with information -- it's good to enjoy life! You're keeping it balance, though. Sounds like you had some really good exercise today, which is great. Just keep your eye on the prize and try to make small successes during the parties, I think. I have similar struggles. During my past four or five months I really got in the habit of having a beer while prepping dinner, and sometimes another with the meal. These days I am keeping the bubbly water companies in business instead, having selzer with lime in lieu of my beer. Not the same, but it works.

Thanks Herbie I like that idea. I like club soda and often use that as a drink in order to keep others from "bugging me" with the old .. go ahead.. have another glass of champagne. I might try the rubber band tick for a while too just to see if it seems to infulence me.
