Janelleas's Journal, 30 Dec 08

I decided to face the music and weigh in. This weight gain showed up all at once... like an overdue account! I thought I was sailing along just great, I have been partying, drinking, eating cheesecake and pumpkin desserts of different sorts and in general not paying attention and not journaling my foods. I thought because I was getting so much exercise in that it would not affect me...wrong!! It all caught up.

This is day two that the weight gain is still showing up on my scale. I need to face it right now and hopefully by paying attention and getting right to it, it will come off easier than the "old" pounds. A doc once told me we have three days for "temporary weight" to work at getting it off.. after three days it becomes permanament weigh which is a little more stubborn about leaving. Im going to be very good today and see what the scale says tomorrow.

I think you are doing the right thing by "weighing in" here on the Fat Secret. That act puts a written record down in black and white - or in this case - blue and white - for you to see with your own eyes. In this way, the weight is something visual and literal upon which to act. Once you get your food intake whittled down a bit here and there on the edges I bet you will see a down arrow on your chart. The exercise has got to help too! Keep the faith!

You'll be fine and I am sure after the new year that will come off. Then it's MUST time ok?

You're not alone. I'm staying off that scale also. I think I'll wait until after new year, then it's a MUST.

Amazing isn't it - how quickly we can pack in on when not paying attention and staying on plan....you will get it back down after the paarty season is done....Have a Happy New Year's eve party....hugs

I just talked to ImLuuvd and I have decided we have both have scales that have a "delayed action" within them... maybe they are just kind machines that want to give us the benefit of a doubt and a chance to rectify our mistakes and bad choices. Seems to be that our scales wait about four days, allowing us to abuse our system before blowing the whistle on us. So now... if I am very very good, maybe it will move back down in the same amount of time. Im trying to be very very good but I do have a party at my house tomorrow. I am not feeling very strong about it.. my friends seem to lead me astray easily. I also know this is the last party... Jan 1st will be kick into gear and reach goal time!

Well done for "owning up" to the weight gain and letting the chips fall where they may. OMG... I've shared SEVERAL bottles of wine with my cousin before typing this and am feeling rather challenged.... I wish you all the best and hope that I dont regret this day tomrrrow!!!!! YIkes....

Good for you, stepping on the scale. It's easier to fight the demon you can see than the one you can't! Good luck getting that number back down - I know you can do it!

Kudos to you for posting your current weight. I like your Dr's. 3 day weight story. No worries, I'm sure it'll go back down soon. Keep up w/all that great exercise!

Look at us copying each other again! We must make it to our goal of 145 in the new year! Have fun at your party.

Good for you to weigh in and take that challenge on. I know you can get this back down soon. I agree that you should enjoy your party tomorrow. I find that drinking sparkling water in a fancy glass helps me be festive and limit my alcohol intake at social events. The party snacks are still tempting, but if I'm full of good food beforehand it's easier to not get carried away. Maybe that will be helpful for you too? If I could only follow my own advice... ;-)

thanks everyone. Herbie the best i ever did at a party was when i did exactly what you said, I ate sensible and healthy that day of the party and I drank a V8 juice right before leaving for the party. At the party I nursed my champagne so that when the hostess came around filling glasses.. mine was still half full. Best I ever did at a party. Tonight party is at my house.

Just a reminder to let us all know how your party goes tonight! I will be thinking about you and yours! Happy New Year!

I'm sure that once you get back into eating more "normally" again that little excess will just fall off. I will keep my fingers crossed for you for that! Hope you have a really nice time at your party tonight and Happy New Year to you!! :o)

I hope the party last night was wonderful and you sent the unwise choices of the last week packing! Good for you to face the scale and the music. We all know that we are not going to avoid all those foods we have grown to love forever. If we are making wise choices 99% of the time, we are enjoying the fruits of all of our labor once in a while. This cruise to me is about reminding ourselves through all the temptations about what we want to be, where we are going, and getting us back on track. You are still doing awesome, we knew the last 6 weeks would be tough, busy and we all joined this challenge to end the holiday season with a loss, or at the very least, minimal gain. You've been doing great and now that we're into a new year, you'll get right back on track, I know it. =)
