HealthyBabs's Journal, 12 Dec 10

Not much journaling for me this week, lot's of community volunteering keeping me busy at night> stocked shelves at our town food bank, community dinner at our church on Wed nite, finalizing rounding up holiday gifts & dinners for 5 needy families.
This week I have office potlucks on Tues & Thurs and a friends party on Saturday night. I have a healthy dish for each of the potlucks figured out and bringing roasted shrimp to the Saturday party.
I have decided to NOT do any baking this year. I really struggled with that but I just can't stay away from the stuff I love so much. It is something that I always look so forward to, making our family ethnic goodies, reminiscing with my hubby about all the funny growing up stories. It will be fine, I will probably have a goodie at my moms on Christmas eve. Leaving for 2 week vacation on Christmas day, which also happens to be my 53rd birthday! The plan is to get in plenty of tennis, swimming, walking, & hotel gym and also enjoy as much seafood as humanly possible!

Wow, you are doing such a great job with planning food so carefully over the holidays. I didn't realize your birthday is on Christmas Day. I think that means you are especially blessed. I really do. I have a daughter born on Christmas day too. I really think God plans those births especially. My daughter was 10 days overdue. She was just supposed to be a Christmas baby. What about you? Do you know when you were due. I would love to hear your thoughts on being a Christmas baby. Have a great week.

Thanks ceceps, I have always felt blessed being born on Christmas Day. I was actually due on New Years Eve and I was going to be named Eve. I absolutely have always loved having my b'day on this special day, lot's of family and friends always around to celebrate with. My grandma always made me a special red velvet b'day cake and my uncle and cousins chased me around grandma's house incessently until they finally caught me for the requisite birthday spankings. Gram put an end to that when I turned 16 as I was now a "young lady" and should be treated accordingly. That ended that bit of fun but the cake continued every year until she passed at 98 yrs old just a few years ago!!! God Bless HER! So yes, I do look forward to Christmas and recalling all the great memories. Things aren't quite the same now, but the memories live on forever! Enjoy your holidays and a special happy birthday to your daughter as well.
