I'm with you. Tried low-carb one too many times. Counting calories has opened up dieting to something very doable for me. I can choose to be stuffed by eating super healthy, or a little less stuffed by eating something I am craving. Still eat healthy most of the time, but I love the freedom.

Absolutely regarding pasta. What I've learned from my neice, who lives in Spain, is to use a quarter of a Box of spaghetti for 2 people and a lot of veg. It tastes much better because you can taste the tomatoes and vegetables and it's much much less calories.
Also, I sautee chicken now in a little bit of oil with a number of spices and it's very little calories because Im using spices instead of bread crumbs etc. A nice combination is turmeric, cumin, garlic powder. red pepper flakes... even on an over easy egg in the morning.
