Hmmm I have been looking at my profile pic and that picture is at least 40 pounds ago. I need to change it but I dont have any new ones of my face that I like. When you lose alot of weight you notice silly things like.. hmmm... my hands are slimmer. Boy am I paying for that halloween cheat. It is so unfair that I can gain 7 pounds in 2 days and it takes me a week to lose it. Daylight savings time is this weekend and I am so glad. I hate driving to work in the dark every morning. I am always running behind so I need to drive fast but I am afraid to because I so afraid I will hit a deer, cow, horse, coyote... whatever. I am worried about my grandma. She is 83 and she wants to get her knee replaced. Well she went in last month and they did a non-stress test where the stop her heart and start it up again. She did the test, went home, and woke up that night not feeling good. She went to the hospital and she had so much fluid on her body that her lungs were filling up with fluid and her legs were swelled up huge. After weeks of the swelling coming and going she finally came home last Friday. Well she went back to her doctor and they ok'd the surgery and are going to do another non-stress test. It just worries me because I am not sure her heart is healthy enough to take the stress of the surgery. She said she would rather die than to not be able to walk. Hopefully the dr. knows what he is doing. I would love for her to have the surgery and be able to walk I just hope she is healthy enough for the surgery. She has already done both hips and one knee so this is the last knee left un-replaced.

Wishing your Nan well and walking around in no time! I'm sure she will be ok as she has had this done before! I don't think they would do the op if they wasn't sure of a good outcome! Hugs to you and grandma

Amanda, sounds like your poor Grandmother sure has gone through a lot in her life. Bless her heart. I will say some prayers for her to make a speedy recovery and that she will do so well she'll want to just walk everywhere. Sending you hugs and well wishes. Please keep us updated.

Amanda, I will say some prayers, as well, for your grandma. I know how hard it can be when tey decide to have these kinds of surgeries. My mom had ankle replacement surgery last January, and the recovery was really hard on her. I agree, though, that the biggest worry would be her heart. If the last time she had a non-stress test, she landed in the hospital, then I would think that doing another one, wouldn't be the smartest thing for the Dr. to do, but I suppose he knows what he is doing. Does someone go with your gran to the docs? If not, perhaps someone should, to make sure the doc is not "helping" her make unwise decisions.

I think my dad went with her this last time. I don't know much about this test that they do but it involves shocking her heart. Sounds scary to me. She is pretty healthy otherwise. She drives and takes a bus twice a month to go to the casino "with the old people"... those are her words. lol! She doesnt see that she is old too. She is a hoot and we all love her. She lives 3 hours away so its not like we can just hop over and help her. I wish she lived closer to us.

Amanda - My dad is 80 and just had his knee replaced. Since your gram has gone thru other replacements she is well aware of the drill, the prep before and the hard work after. I know what you mean about them being able to withstand the stress of it all. I agree with someone going with her to the appts just to be sure all is being decided based on being well informed. They can be stubborn and when they set their minds to something, nobody and nothing will change that. Love and support them and pray for their speedy recovery!

Oy...by the way, I think you look great in this pic, but if that was 40 lb's ago, can't wait to see the "new you"!
