I'm not defeated, just a little taken back after discovering that in the last month of strictly following Atkins that I have only lost 4 lbs! I must have been doing something wrong and have tried to remedy it last week, but with all the efforts possible, this diet is not for me. I am starting Weight Watcher's today. I've followed this diet a couple of years ago and lost 12 lbs in a month and actually lost another 12 in the preceding 4 months. I just didn't maintain it and gained back 15 of it. So, knowing how well it worked before, I'm going for it this time. I'm asking myself why didn't I just start WW a month ago? I guess I was being influenced by my 2 daughters who have lost weight and rave about Atkins and how easy and wonderful its been for them. Good for them, but not so good for me. Now I know. So, there's no time to waste, today's a new day ;-)

Because I'm a big proponent of the Atkins way of life, I wondered why you were having so little success. So, I took a gander at your menus since August 9th. If you want to have success on Atkins, you seriously have to follow it 100%. Looking at your menus, I see WAY too few calories, WAY too few veggies, and too many unacceptable food items (like apples, greek yogurt, skim milk etc). Atkins is AMAZING. Why not give it a go?

I must agree with CRM1981. Dr. Pepper even diet isn't acceptable during Induction nor is cottage cheese, plums, nuts & many other foods that you've been indulging in while saying that you're doing Atkins. To me it's obvious that you were never on board with this way of eating & you're meals are evidence of not being ready to commit to such a change which is why Weight Watchers has had more appeal to you but for you to blame a specific diet for not working when you've been less than diligent is wrong. Hopefully you'll have better resolve with the next plan but @ some point you're going to have to buck up & really commit to losing weight. Atkins is & has always been the most effective way to lose weight look @ the diet comparison on this website. Not all diets are for everyone & nothing comes free but you already know this. Well wishes on your journey & you're always welcome back.

Your feedback is all true CRM1981 and SlushKitty! I was not on board completely with Atkins. I read pamphlets, but did not read the book on how to properly follow the induction process. I think it's probably a must to understand completely what this particular diet is doing during this phase. I guess I thought I could do some "short-cuts" and it would be okay. Even though I didn't lose much weight I actually lost lots of inches! Not sure I understand why inches went away instead of pounds, but that part makes me feel good. I also got a jump-start on Weight Watcher's. Eating and preparing meals again using fresh vegetables and keeping my motivation going has prepared me for continuing on my weight loss. I'm sorry if you Atkins followers are offended after reading about my failed attempt on that plan. It was my fault it wasn't working properly and I'm sure it's great for those who are diligent in eating the Atkins way. Now, enough of that! I'm determined to lose this "fat" I've been toting around for years and I need all the advice and help I can get! Thanks all and happy days!

I agree with the comments above. You were not 'doing' Atkins. I wonder why you tried it in the first place if you had success with Weight Watchers in the past. I actually gained weight on weight watchers and was always hungry and thinking about food. For me, that was a really bad way to try to lose and keep off weight. I think every body has a proper way of eating and it sounds as if it is Weight Watchers for you. I hope you do extremely well on the plan and wish you much success with your new way of life.

To alexzwk, I suppose it was my 2 lovely daughters that influenced me into trying the Atkins diet. They have both been successful on it and have lost weight right away. I thought I could do the same with quick weight loss, but I'm not as disciplined as they are. I probably should have gone back to WW right away, but life got in the way and I stayed the course, and as you know got off course without thinking. Anyway...I'm on day 2 of WW and need to fine tune what I've already done yesterday. Dieting and learning new ways of eating and sticking to it takes a lot of planning. It's a challenge for everyone and the mind thought has to be present 24/7.

Very true. As I said, I truely believe we are not all created exactly the same way. I am glad for your daughters' success and hope WW will be something you can live with forever. I think that is the real key and challenge - living with you WOE.
