Divided By Zero's Journal, 06 Oct 08

The scale finally budged. Just a little, but it's enough for now. My running class starts tomorrow and now I'm super nervous. That will go away after the first class, but right now I don't know what I'm getting into, and I expect a lot from myself.

For the first time in... forever, I feel like something was accomplished with the renovation of my future rent house. HOORAY!

I got a few Halloween decorations this weekend. I'm PUMPED! I love Halloween. And this is the first time in two years that I'll be in a neighborhood that actually has trick-or-treaters. I have a stockpile of candy (7 boxes so far) in my room. How's that for testing willpower?

2000 B.C. - Here, eat this root.
1000 A.D. - That root is heathen. Here, say this prayer.
1850 A.D. - That prayer is superstition. Here, drink this potion.
1940 A.D. - That potion is snake oil. Here, swallow this pill.
1985 A.D. - That pill is ineffective. Here, take this antibiotic.
2000 A.D. - That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.

A family was having some people to dinner. At the table, the mother turned to her six-year-old daughter and said, "Dear, would you like to say the blessing?"
"I wouldn't know what to say," replied the little girl, shyly.
"Just say what you hear Mommy say, sweetie," the woman said.
Her daughter took a deep breath, bowed her head, and solemnly said, "Dear Lord, why the hell did I invite all these people to dinner!?!"

Glad your back and journaling today - missed your irony! You know, if you would have just killed every red wasp in the world in a timely manner I would not have these tenants in my house at the present time! I would only have one species to deal with - the lovely black and yellow mud daubers! So I blame you for my predicament! How bad did it hurt when you got stung? Those things are huge! I don't usually run from insects but those I gave the right-of-way to without hesitation! Thanks for the good wishes for the instructor observation tomorrow - the ironic thing about it is that my ratings on 'rate my professor' are way higher than hers! But after all she IS full time, tenure-track faculty and I am a LOWLY part time adjunct...I bow to her wisdom...

Normally red wasp stings don't hurt too bad (although I have a very high pain tolerance). But either the one that got me on the ear hit a nerve cluster or he was on 'roids because that was the first time a wasp sting ever really hurt.

Paul Chek has a slightly different one. Adding... 2003 A.D. - That root is poison. Here, eat this root, it's organic!

Probably a fantastic lab-bred new breed of red wasp... How did the running class go? Are you training for something? Have a great one...
