Ruhu's Journal, 29 Jul 13

I'm back..... Well almost! Having a healthy breakfast before I head to the ferry to start the trip back to CT. Block Island is a beautiful place, a step back in time to old New England charm. My only complaint -- with as hot & humid as our summers have become, it's time to invest in air conditioning... At least for us old, menopausal gals! We biked, tried paddle boarding for the first time (I loved it & didn't even fall in, which surprised us all!) & of course ate and drank. I enjoyed myself even though I caught myself overly concerned at times about when we'd eat, how much I'd eat & what I'd eat, hoping someday that just comes naturally as I continue trying to eat mindfully.

The eating went pretty well although I made some poorer choices leading up to the trip. Again I got caught up in the stress of preparing intensified by DH's stress about work. But I'm back here now with the FS friends I've missed & been thinking about, ever so grateful knowing you'd be here for me. Traveling, in general, has been a trigger time for me, but especially the transition home, so I am on high alert & may be journaling more today if needed. Hope all of you have been doing ok & off to catch up on journals now and throughout the day.

But before I begin my journey home and continue my healthy eating & living journey, I'll pray for serenity. And for this one day and each one meal, moment, bite and emotion, I'll continue to pray, breathe, journal & express, staying grateful for all of you, my family & friends, and returning to the life I love with the health & financial security to truly enjoy it. Have missed you BIG TIME. Glad you had a good time despite a few stresses and stressors. I am sure it won't take you any time to get back in the groove when you finally get home. Travel safe and I'll look forward to more journals :)

Welcome home. All in all I'm sure you did fine. I think being aware of it helps you stay 'in charge' and you are definitely handling it better than months ago (travel & return). Reminding you as I do myself: it's only been a few months of change after a lifetime of 'the other'; it all takes time. I cannot imagine anywhere without A/C this time of year - that's wild. Journal as much as you need or want today ~ I'm here for ya.

Thanks my 2 amazing FS friends! I just stopped for lunch on my drive home -- Panera Bread -- do you have those? I love some of their salads & am enjoying one now. So far, so good on the transitioning back. I can't figure out why -- there it is again, Angel -- some days it's just so much easier than others. Just thankful today is an easy day. Thanks again so much for always being here for me! Xoxox

Glad today is an easier day. I don't get Panera Bread up here but I have been to Buffalo and yes they are great places to eat. Their breads are fabulous as are their salads. Thanks for your ongoing support.

Sounds like you had a wonderful time, Ruth. Glad for you. Glad you're coming back to CT. Of course, I'm in Stamford now, and contemplating the Litchfield Hills tour for the weekend. I imagine that's pretty far away from you. I was in Torrington yesterday, for the Harlem Valley River Ride, but the weather was terrible and I had a flat.

Glad you are home - had to google map Block Island to see where you had your vacay. Looks amazing.

We did have a good time. I've wanted to try paddle boarding for awhile & the conditions were perfect -- high tide, calm waters & sunshine. Block island is a special place & we can get there in 2 1/2-3 hours. Heather, your riding sounds awesome again! I have a tennis tournament this weekend, but keep me posted on your CT tours -- one of these days, I'm going to join you... when I get my courage up! Eating & living healthy is still going well... even as i drag myself through the unpacking, laundry, etc.! But boy am I enjoying doing it in A/C!

Your vacation sounds like it was lots of fun. I think that just knowing what your triggers are is very helpful. Hope the laundry goes fast!
