Well, I had my talk with my boss yesterday. Took a turn that I didn't expect... Although I thought she might have some misgivings about my wanting to move out of her department to take the other position, I didn't expect her to have a counter for it... She said she will support me in whatever decision I make, but gave me something to think about. There is a position here in town that she has talked in the past about wanting me in but there is already somebody in that spot, so there hasn't really been a way. Now she has talked to her supervisors and has come up with a plan to switch the other person and I in positions to allow both of us new opportunities. My income potential in the position would be much more than the original one I was thinking about, plus it's probably more suited to what I really enjoy doing. I would not have cushy 'office hours' and would still have a crazy Tuesday through Saturday work week, but I would not travel more than 60 miles from home, and would be home every night-- with possible occasional travel. So... I have to make a decision so we can get the ball rolling.
Had lunch with my sister yesterday. Her and I don't get to spend much time together alone, so it was nice. I had a Reuben sandwich, which I haven't had in YEARS.. and it was actually pretty good. She took me into the lunch room where she works (a lumberyard) to introduce me to her boss. When she opened the door, the room was full of men, and she still had the audacity to say to her boss (who it turned out I had met previously) "Hasn't she lost a lot of weight?"... right in front of EVERYONE!! LOL!! I guess it's nice that she's proud of me. I spent many years with her making comments about my weight because she never struggled until 5 years ago when she got pregnant with the triplets. Anyway, it was a nice time.
Heading out this morning to Salt Lake City. This is just a short trip.. I'll be back Friday night. We are having a regional conference for our franchisees with some workshops and vendor shows. Should be fun, but very busy for the 3 days. Don't know if I'll be able to get on here much.
I made a ham with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn for dinner last night. My youngest daughter said that the meal made her want Thanksgiving to get here. LOL. We usually do both ham and turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas, so I guess that's why. My husband didn't get home until 10 and all of the potatoes were gone, so I made more for him. The things us wives do for our husbands ;).
Okay, better get off and finish getting ready. My ride will be here in 45 minutes, and since we both have to catch the plane, I probably shouldn't make her late, either. Have a great week everyone if I don't get to check in. (((HUGS)))
