suechru's Journal, 22 Aug 10

I just bought a pair of size 18 jeans at Old Navy. They fit perfectly, probably because they have a little stretch to them, The other pair of size 18s I tried on fit but are tight. I'll come back for those in a few weeks.

I was curious if it was a fluke or not so I came home and went shopping in my closet. I can pretty much start wearing my old work pants (Worthington size 18), they're a little snug but definitely presentable. I also fit into a size 18 pair of capris from Old Navy that I couldn't wear at ALL this summer. When the spring began I could barely get them UP on my body, now they're still a little tight but they zip, they close and I can actually breathe in them. I think I had to give up wearing them sometime LAST summer because they didn't fit.

The jeans I'm wearing today are a pair of capris that I got at Kohl's, they're a 20W and were a good fit when I bought them a month ago, now they're pretty big. So big in fact, the belt they came with is on the second tightest loop to keep them up. By the time it gets cold they're probably not going to fit anymore at this rate.

I'm just overwhelmed. I nearly celebrated for probably five minutes in the dressing room in Old Navy when I got into those jeans. I remember back in January how I couldn't even fit into a size 20 in that store and would pray that the largest size would zip. And I know their sizing is not the same as the 18 in NY & Co (which is something I can only pull up these days, there's no way those pants will button on me anytime soon.)

I felt like I was going to cry in the mall today. It's such an emotional experience, I was basically eating emotions for so many years and now they're all surfacing as the pounds come off. It's all such an emotional process that I guess I have to accept.

My larger size 18 work pants fit me now. I might wait another week before actually wearing them but no more cameltoe or not being able to breathe in them. At the start of the summer, I really could not even pull some of them up.

Hahaha, I remember doing the same thing not too long ago! It was in an Old Navy too and I did a little dance in the fitting room. Congratulations! Those NY & Co 18's won't be too far behind ;)

Thanks, Sasha. It's kinda frustrating to go in my closet because I have all these great things in sizes 14-18 but most of them don't fit. (Then there's the small section of larger sizes that I've been wearing.) I miss being able to wear nice things I actually liked.

Congrats! This is great to hear =) I did the same happy dance at Fashion Bug last weekend when I fit into a size 16 pants and XL shirt, it definitely is such a great feeling!

It's a wonderful feeling to drop down in size! I know what you mean about getting rid of emotions as you get rid of fat. I seriously believe you store emotions in your fat. As I lose weight, it's like I'm a totally different person - physically, mentally, emotionally.

Yeah now if the scale would agree. It's gone up and hasn't budged at all.
