I had fresh garden purple hull peas last night. I have been wanting to eat them for awhile now. They have been in the deep freeze for 2 weeks or more. They were delishious but purple hull peas have alot more carbs than pinto beans. There are 18 net carbs for 1/2 a cup and I probably had about 3/4 of a cup so I over did it a little bit. They were really good but I felt bloated after I ate them. My weight has been the same for the last 2 days. I am going to go talk to a couselor from SE University this afternoon. It is time to decide my major - for sure. I can get the last of my basics over with at the junior college this fall but then I have to transfer to a 4 year. Southeastern is the closest to me and resonably priced. I talked to University of Phoenix but they were so expensive and I think a degree from a local university would hold more clout. I think I am going to Hunters Education tomorrow. I have to get a babysitter first so I have to check with NaNa. I hope I can get a big buck & show my brothers up this year! :D I also hope I don't cry when I actually shoot it and that it dies instantly..... I am not sure hunting is for me but I might as well get the license. Besides you can't beat deer roast tacos and deer chicken fried steak. Seriously - it is awesome!

Amanda, sounds like you are seriously taking your eduction to the next level. I know it can be so stressful trying to commit to what you want to do when so many things interest you. It's wonderful you are taking that step. Have fun hunting tomorrow.

Hopefully a counselor can help you sort out your feelings about a major.

I sure hope so. I think being an elementary teacher would be some much fun. But then I get home from work and my kids are having a fit to watch spongebob when I am trying to help them with their homework and I get stressed out and think - if my kids stress me how will I be able to do 17 or more at a time? I want some hands on experience. I think they will tell me if I can handle it or not. I think I would love to teach reading. I LOVE to read and I read at least a book a week and when I am not in school I read about 2 a week. I would love to teach kids the joy of reading. lol Keli - I won't actually hunt tomorrow, just sit in a class about gun safety and wildlife conservation & laws etc. It is an all day thing from 8 to 5 with an hour for lunch. You have to take a test when you are done. If you were born before a certain year you are exempt... but I am too young? That law doesnt even make since. I know more about a shotgun and gun safety than a 40 year old city slicker so I don't know why they make it an age rule? Oh well, I am sure it will be enlightening and I will learn me a thing or two. :)

Good luck with chosing your major. As for the hunting, I couldn't shoot anything. We once raised rabbits for meat, and I had to hire someone to take care of the preparation, and while he was doing it, I had to lock myself in the house with the curtains closed. I know where my meat comes from and what is involved, and if I had to do it I could, but since I don't have to.......lol
