How did Thanksgiving go? I hope you had a happy one. Mine went well, all considered. Of course I ate more carbs than I should have but just took my BG and even though it is higher than I like it (135) it is well within the guidelines of the 2 hr. after eating test. I sent most of the leftovers home with my kids, temptation out of reach. Was a good day and a good meal. I am thankful. I'll just have a green salad with olive oil and lemon and maybe a small slice of turkey tonight with a cup of cinnamon tea.

Sounds like a great Thanksgiving, Miz Annie! We had fish tacos, so everything was on my meal plan except the corn tortillas, which are more carbs than I have been eating usually. They were all “acceptable foods” on my list, just I ate a lot of them though. I am surprised that the scale didn’t go higher, but I may also be dehydrated. Miz Annie, it sounds like you have a good plan for today. I think I’ll do something similar, including upping my water intake.

Thanks, Wendyree. I agree we MUST stay hydrated and that, bottom line, means drink water. It can be flavored water, it just means not those sweet sodas or even those diet sodas, sugary drinks. I like club soda with a twist of lime or lemon or a splash of cranberry or pomegranate or other fruit juice (no sugar added) Everything on my Thanksgiving Table was acceptable (some more than others) but I tried to keep my portions small. The dessert table, not so much. But I was told from the get-go that it is okay to have and enjoy those special occasion days aka cheat days, but they just can't be every day or even every week. And oh, a fish taco sounds so good. I haven't had one in quite awhile. Once this Nor'easter blows out of here on Tuesday and the streets and roads are safe again I think I'll ask my neighbor friend if she'd like to go out for tacos. There is nothing wrong with the taco other than the shell so just adjust your carbs with your other meals to balance out your allotted carbs for the day. I find that works, most of the time.
