Starting my day again in prayer --

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

and ready to take it this one day, meal, moment, bite or emotion at a time. By repeating this way to start my day, it is becoming a habit. And, my hope is that every good habit I encourage will discourage the bad ones I've accumulated over time.

Today, I'll start getting planned, packed & ready for a weekend in the Big Apple. I have a friend from home coming to NYC with her 13-year-old son & his friend, & I am going in to join them for a weekend visit. On the agenda is an evening bus tour on Fri night; Freedom Towers, 911 Memorial & ferry ride around the Statue of Liberty on Sat; Easter Parade, mass at St Patricks & the Lion King on Sunday... have I exhausted you yet? Hope this old gal can keep up, but luckily my girlfriend is as old as me & keeps a similar early to bed, early to rise schedule. And, I've already warned her that as an expert cat napper, I may sneak back to the hotel when needed. I have to say in my old age that I have gotten much more vocal & selfish about my needs, & less uncomfortable about not going with the flow.

(Side note: While in Utah, even though all 3 of us girls there -- one good friend & a friend of hers that I'd just met --said we were not big shoppers, it became obvious that my new friend was really quite accomplished at shopping & it was an energizer for her. For me, while I like to buy nice things, I find shopping exhausting & have to do it in small increments. And the point of this side bar?!? I said twice that I was going back to the hotel & was going to skip the shopping part of the day. It was the right thing to do for me as it gave me the time to myself that I needed to re-group, meditate, etc. In my younger years though, I wouldn't have spoken up & been the "party popper". So, point being, there are some pros to aging.)

Back to NYC! And on Monday, I'm taking the morning to myself in NYC to go to one of their great spinning classes there & the one store I do want to get to there before coming home. So, today, I'll plan for the trip because of course, I'll need some healthy snacks & food options to stay lactose, gluten & sugar free. And, I'll begin to pack... damn, never did get that Easter bonnet, but what better place than NYC!

Well, that's my Easter weekend. DH is planning to come in for the day on Sat to join us & then back to CT to take his mother to Easter mass & breakfast. For those who celebrate the day, "Hippity hoppin', Easter's on its way"! xoxox

Sounds fab - and good for you on taking care of You. Love the phrase 'expert cat napper'. I'm frustrating to shop with too because I'm a 'looker' but not a 'buyer' because I don't like accumulating 'stuff' at this stage of my life so at the end of 'hunt' it seems like I just waste time... what was the question?

Sounds like a great weekend! Have fun, take time for you and stay thoughtful and prayerful over the weekend. Easter is a grand occassion to reflect be thankful for all God has done for us through Christ! Stay positive and keep on moving.
