In the theme of new things I didn't think I could do, here's yet another.

I took the stairs at work today.

I know, I know it sounds minor, but I work on the fourth floor and even at my thinnest I only used to take the stairs to the third. (Which was probably fifty pounds lighter than what I am now). I have a desk job (as compared to my former life when even though I sat, I used to move around a lot during the day) and I do think it's been a factor in putting on some of the weight I've gained over the past years.

I've been going DOWN the stairs all week but I know that's really not much in terms of exercise, climbing four flights is another story. I wasn't even sure what it would do to me or if I could do it. I was a little winded sure, but I really had no problem with it. I was frankly very amazed with myself.

Not sure what the hell to classify that as under exercise but there you go.

In other news, the salsa I prepped last night is absolutely amazing today. I was right on target with the letting it all soak together thing. That with some baked tostito scoops and it was a great appetizer for the fish I grilled (although note to self: fish grills MUCH quicker on the George Foreman grill than a frozen turkey burger.)

I did cave and order EA Sports Active from Amazon, I'll get it Monday so maybe I can not sit on my ass and be grouchy next Monday night. It's currently raining so biking is out tonight which pretty much means I'm going to hop on the wii for something (either DDR or wii fit). Maybe both depending on how much energy I have.

Oh, also, I now have a TON of salsa - if anyone has any great ideas for recipes I can throw it in let me know. I'm not sure how long fresh salsa lasts and I have a giant bowl of it. (And would prefer not to eat it with a ton of chips.)

Taco Salad?? Maybe?? I'm not sure, my mind kind of went blank, lol. But I was going to say, YAY for you taking the stairs! If you think yours sounds minor, then mine will sound super minor. I was impressed that I talked myself into walking down 2 flights of stairs today. So GO YOU!! On my way down, I was thinking "There's really no reason I shouldn't do this more often". Darn elevators anyway, lol! And good luck with the new Wii game. I do not have a wii, but tried the hula hooping @ a friends house once. My first time I worked up a sweat, but I could see how after a while you would need something more challenging.

I'd use a spoon! ha ha I LOVE salsa! Congrats on climbing the stairs - I don't call that minor :)

LOL, I actually did the stairs twice. I work in a really crappy corner of the office (It's the equivalent of a closet and I share space with other people) so I go downstairs where we have a patio (My company has the whole building) and eat. I've been going down the stairs all week but I climbed them twice today which I didn't think I could do. I'm also a lunatic that decided wii fit has gotten too easy and did the step aerobics part holding 4lb weights. LOL. Now THAT got my heart rate going.

Wow, 4 flights of stairs!!! That's awesome! My work office is on the 2nd floor & I have to walk past elevators to get to the stairs, so if one happens to show up as I'm walking past...let's just say I don't take the stairs all that often, lol. Have fun with the new game, I have not caved & bought the Wii game system yet, mostly because my sister & her husband already did so my kids get to use theirs. I really like eggs with great salsa, so you could try that?

I think a lot of this is because I spent a month doing lots and lots of cardio, I've mentioned before that one of my goals is to bike to work this fall and to be able to do that I've been trying to build lower body strength and endurance. My body is actually kinda funny right now - my middle is ridiculously flabby but I have some strong ass muscles in my legs from all the walking/cycling/step aerobics. I only lost 15 lbs but I must've gained a lot of muscle or lost inches or something. I'm completely baffled. Of course, I'm also baffled why the scale seems to be stuck this week.

Fish is a great diet food, and salsa is one of the best diet condiments you can use on your food. You made some great food choices. Don't worry about a weight plateau. They happen from time to time (believe me I know). If you're working out, it could be muscle gain. You might try some abdominal and core strengthening exercises. I was tubby in the middle, and the core strengthening exercises really helped - as tough as they are to do.

That's a great idea. I try to include that kind of stuff when I do wii workouts since I normally rely on my legs the rest of the time I work out. My abs actually hurt from something I did earlier (not badly but I feel it). It is TOM (things are a little off this month due to stress) so we'll see what the scale actually ends up saying. I've been known to retain crazy amounts of water (sometimes over 5 lbs.) If that's the case then I really might have lost and just not know it yet. (I hope).
