Bah....I guess my decision to not walk on Thursday night was not a good one. It's all good, started back up with the walk on Friday night so hopefully the downward trend can get back on track. I also am looking into starting some toning exercises. I have probably the WORST upper body strength of anyone I have ever met! I desperately need to build some muscle and strength in my upper arms....if anyone has any advice it's greatly appreciated!!!

Buy a set of dumbbells (3 - 5 - 8 lb) and find a workout book. I have an old one -Joyce Vedral's "Bottoms Up" which gives a good workout framework to begin with. When I started, I used filled water bottles (less than 1 lb) because I had trouble with 3 lb. Now 2 months in, I'm using up to 10 lbs and thinking I need heavier! (63 YO female)

The water bottles sounds like a great idea! Thanks!

Then you haven't met me. I could probably kick a wall out but can barely push a door open some days due to lack of upper body strength. Feel better?

It improves fast. I also started with water bottles and a 10 minute YouTube video called Pilates Arms which it took me awhile to do. Good luck.

Liv, did you have "chicken wings" and did that workout help?

I had zero upper body strength and horrible batwings. I’m still a owner of the batwings but also 💪🏻. Started with 7.5lb dumbbells! The body follows what the mind thinks.!!! Check out my profile for progress photos if you like!!!

I do not think working our helps much with the bat wings. Mine are not too bad. But I credit that to my fasting. The work outs helps to build strength. That is very important to me at this point in my life and also muscles and definitions. The 10 minute pilates is a very basic routine. But so good when I started out.
