I woke up this morning all bloated and swollen from dinner last night! It was a delicious and spicy mexican soup dish, with obviously too much sodium in the enchilada sauce that I sprinkled on top. Like Sararay, I'm sensitive to food I put into my body. I wonder if that's a good thing?? Does that mean that my body has a wonderful way of signaling me with a red flag, letting me know not to repeat that food in my menu too often, OR is it a weakness, indicating that there are allergies running rampant in me, running unchecked? A step on the scales indicated a 1 1/2 pound gain, but I'm sure it's water retention because I'm swollen.
WHICH...by the way...brings me to my next topic. I was working out in the sun yesterday until 7pm, and put my water jug down about 50 yards away from me. I was so thirsty, but I kept telling myself that I'd get a drink after I finished a row of tying. Then something else would interfere with my plan. By the end of the day, I hardly ever touched that water and I felt sluggish and dehydrated.
THAT could be another reason why the little amount of salt I consumed for dinner, affected me so strongly, too.

Today's planned menu
Breakfast; coffee with HC, 10 macadamia nuts
Lunch; a bowl of homemade Abondigas soup
snack; celery stock with cream cheese
Dinner; Cornish Hen chicken breast, salad

That's the plan...we'll see how far I stray from it! I always change the snack around, or add an extra one, or even skip the snack! I don't like to eat if I'm not hungry, and I don't like to limit my intake if I AM hungry! But one thing is for sure....I'll be drinkng LOTS of water!










Why is it that I think of interesting, cool, or funny things to share on my journal, but as soon as I sit down here, all is forgotten?? Just goes to show that I'm scatter-brained, huh?

As busy and as much as you move around..youll work that salt bck out an show a loss...

the red flag or allergy...could be either...but the result should be the same...stay away from whatever it is that your body is rejecting...the long and short of it is...LISTEN TO YOUR BODY...it knows best...good job listening to yourself

I don't know if allergies are a sign of weakness or not. When you are in tune with your body, though, it just lets you KNOW that something is up. I believe that we can get over our allergies by re-programming our bodies (by eating lots of nutritionally dense food) and using moderation with the things we are sensitive to. Good job paying attention! I'm sure the lack of water plus the salt is a bad combination.

Yep, I think we're more sensitive to salt because our bodies are holding less water weight with Atkins. That's good but when salt and "other" things come to town, we feel it a lot more.

I think alot of Atkiners get bloated when they've had too much salt!! Your menu looks dee-lish as well, I'm like that too... I'll plan out a menu, but the thing is ... I change during the day, meaning something that sounds good to me in the morning may not appeal to me that afternoon. I have a notebook I keep in my kitchen "junk drawer" and you should see all the scribbles I've made where I have to mark out things and change it b/c I ain't studying that mess anymore! I'm gonna start jotting it down as I go since I never know how I'm gonna feel. Today though, (((sshhh, this is terrible))) .. I haven't eaten dinner b/c I am TOTALLY not hungry! I just don't want to eat right now, I had coffee w/ hc earlier and now it's after 7pm and I would prefer to just go take a hot shower and get my jammies on and check out the tv. QUICK, CALL THE DOC, LORI ISN'T HUNGRY!!!!!!!! WHAT UP???

OH, ME AGAIN.... nope, I'm not "trying" to starve myself but I am honestly still full from lunch! I'm in shock myself! I went from inhaling a whole box of sugary cereal and pouring splenda down my throat to I am just honestly NOT even hungry enough to nibble! I think I had a good lunch though so I'm not gonna be hurt by this. I just feel so weird that I'M NOT HUNGRY! Can you believe it.... I'M NOT HUNGRY... I keep saying this over and over to myself and asking "WHAT?????" This has certainly startled the begeebees outta me girl! How odd.... I am not digging through the shelves and I have left over carbs to spend.. and I don't want to, Whew, what a shocker! I'm sorry, this will take a while to sink in b/c I eat like a dang hog half the time! Truely... I don't eat like no girl y'all... I can out eat my husband and my brothers!! They only wonder how in the world I don't put on a ton of weight, he he... they don't realize that I scarf down MEAT... that's the trick, I don't touch the bread.

Drink up, girl! Water...that is. Sounds like you are definitely dehydrated and that salt probably didn't help. Menu for today looks good! What is abondigas soup? Hugs to you buddy!! :)

You're gonna be okay Lorik, I'm sure your hunger will return but enjoy it for now, lol! I was like that the first few days of ketosis but found my appetite returned or maybe I just reverted back to hog heaven and eating more than I needed to! Thanks Sararay, coming from the food expert, I take that as a complement!

I don't believe that its possible for you to be swollen or bloated - shure you are the picture of perfection... iffin ya stood sideways and stuck out your tongue, from a distance, sure I'd swear you were a zip! (what was said with upmost resect btw - a compliment!)... now 3 hail mary's a gallon of water and you'll be grand *s*

LOL, I did have a little too much coffee... you don't even know the half of, I talk so fast sometimes that I can't even understand what I just said!! My fingers just go balistic when I'm caffeinated, LOL. You know that I know that you know I'm crazy so it's all good!! =D

Your body will retain fluids if you don't drink enough each day, its saying, "if I am not getting enough I better hold on to what I have" Extra sodium just gives the body the mechanism to hold more fluids. strange as its sounds if you are retaining water, you need to drink more to get rid of the retention. Also, according to Atkins, to flush the by-products of fat burning out of your system, you HAVE TO drink all that water each day. from the Queen of Fat Ankles & Hands who now drinks 64 oz of daily.(and knows where every restroom IS in the building. :)

I'm thinkin' it "might" be ur bodies way of telling you that your NOT allowed to consume so much sodium...but, then again, you have never really EVER been able to handle too much salt. You have a couple drinks and you wake up swollen...so, I think it's allergies! Thats my educated GUESS!! =) and I'm pretty damn educated... lol GOOD job stickin' to your diet momma! YAY! DISNEYLAND IS TOMORROW!!
