Lavinnia's Journal, 05 May 10

What a morning! Oldest son's blood sugar was 38 by the time the paramedics could check it. Yup. I had to call the paramedics at 4:30 this morning. They gave him a bolus of glucose, and he was off to work, no worse for the wear. I'm exhausted. My breakfast is in the oven...I just recorded everything I put in that little baking dish, and it's like a third of my daily allowance.

If I eat it all, I'll just do a salad for lunch. I'm wiped out. I'm thinking nap after breakfast. lol

Oh my goodness Lavinnia! Nothing like a little stress to start out the day. Geeze..I'm really sorry for the scare and I'm sure a nap would be a good idea. I still stay kids were easier to deal with when they still fit nicely in the play pen <smiles>

Oh, my goodness, that is scary. Sorry that you had to start your day that way, but sooo happy that it turned out okay. Take a nap and get some rest. And yes, Ruby, I agree, they were easier when they were in the playpen! LOL

Thanks, ladies. Yes, they were easier way back when. In fact, I remember when he used to tear around the apartment in his walker. Even then, he was easier to take care of. It was scarey. We're going to revamp his insulin routine. I honestly think, after him being insulin dependent since he was 9, that his pancreas is starting to work a little bit again. We keep decreasing his insulin, and this keeps happening. Oh, I did get my nap. Feel much better, and I'm down another 1.6 pounds. Woooo hoooooo. Won't record weight again until next Sunday, though. <grin>

Is he doing Atkins also? I had to stop my insulin when I went on Atkins because my blood sugars dropped so low all the time.

He is not doing Atkins. He's a juvenile, or type 1 diabetic. He's been on insulin since he was 9 years old. I've decreased my insulin a LOT after only 1 week. In fact, I started decreasing it the first couple of days.
