Thankfully, I didn't miss the train into London today after I just had to log on and let you guys and girls know that my trousers looked stunning on me for the first time! I made it with 5 minutes to spare before the train arrive - shoooo!

The 2 appointments I had at the employment agencies went well and I'm hoping to have some positive feedback from them both. The first one was very professional but laid back at the same time - the thing with these big City agencies is that if you come from the Home Counties, they tend to look down their noses at you, unless of course you've had experience in the City already... this agent just welcomed me in and I felt comfortable from the get go - I in fact was taken to their team to meet and greet with them all so i could put faces to names when they called me about a job - brilliant way to do it!! The second agency was a little more disorganised and left me sitting there for what seemed like hours! I had to do all sorts of proficiency tests and typing skills tests and in my mind they are just a waste of time! firstly you feel under pressure to get a high score so you tend to work slower and also tend to make more silly mistakes! I know for a fact that I'm quick on Word and know it inside out but when it actually came to the test that I had to do to prove I knew what I was doing, I was RUBBISH! I got 15 out of 20 questions wrong and my score came up as basic user! My typing skills test was 3 minutes long with no warm-up or read over to speak of so I was shocking at that too. I got 50wpm with an accuracy of 93% (ok that wasn't so bad but my speed was way down from my 75wpm norm!). The agent was short, sharp and to the point and then I was out of there!

Because I've not worn work heels in god knows how long, I'm now in the most astounding pain of my life (I've been in flats and trainers for like a year because it was a very informal office!)! I honestly at one stage thought if I find a shoe store I'm going in and buying a pair of slippers because i just cannot walk with this pain any longer!! I saw a Boots drugstore and thought "great - blister pads" - how wrong could I have been, there was no chance my blisters would ever be covered by those tiny little plasters! No chance! But I stick them on anyway and endured the pain for another few miles until I couldn't take the pain any longer and just had to stop for a moment to ease the pain! What should have taken me 30 minutes took me almost an hour to walk! I was like an old woman shuffling along at 2mph!

Going to soak my little toes in salt water!!! oooohhh can't wait!

It sounds like the first one is a great opportunity. Good Luck with that! I know what you're saying about heels. I don't have to wear them too often and when I do, boy I walk like I've never had a pair on, lol. My work place is very laid back to the point we can wear jeans. When you work in a basement area on campus and you deal w/mostly kids, there's no real reason to dress up.
