I landed in the hospital with something called biliary sludge, which is similar to gallstones. It was triggered by the high amts of fat I was consuming on the keto diet. Hopefully once I go back to a more traditional diet, the symptoms will go away. I feel good now and I'm still motivated to lose weight. I will have to figure out new dietary goals when I have time. I was getting pretty sick of the fatty food anyway. I am ready to enjoy whole grains and fruits again.

Woahhh, I'm glad you are ok. Sorry you went through that. I see people complaining of major cramping that sent them to the hospital due to being in ketosis, as well. I am very much for eating less of the right things. A well rounded diet that covers all the vitamins and minerals naturally: greens, grains, lean protein and cut out sugar. I believe it is just better for you in the long run. I respect everyone's opinion though, I'm sure keto works for some. We are here to support you on your journey. Hugs!

Gallstone are a true risk of a high fat diet. Very painfull. Take a look at a traditional “diabetic” diet. It is LOWER in carbs. The ratio is about 40-50% of your calories from carbs, 35% from fat and about 30% from protein and includes all food groups. It’s a place to start, then you can tweak it to meet your personal needs or as recommended by your doctor— you don’t want the sludge to go on to become a bigger issue.

I have my own diet. ☆☆☆ drink coffee and banana, every day. I find that keeps me full. Then at 3-4 pm snack, then a small dinner ( ON SMALL PLATE ). I HAVE GONE FROM 305 LBS TO 179 LBS. IT BEEN A 1 YEAR NOW. I AM SO HAPPY NOW, I FEEL GOOD ABOUT MYSELF. Nattybun

Have you heard of Trim Healthy Mama? You could add those foods back in but learn how to separate fuels.

Hubby had to have his gall bladder removed. They never did find out why it just completely quit. Now he is to cut back on fats and anything spicy. I never thought to ask if it could’ve been his diet that caused it. Hope you are on the mend and enjoy the new food you get to have! (In moderation of course 😝)

When I was in nursing school in the ‘60s they taught a classic gallbladder profile— the 3 Fs being female, fat and forty. There is now basically one major factor and that is obesity.. gallbladder disease just like cardiac disease, and T2 diabetes even extends to children. The youngest person I have ever seen with an obesity related cardiac event (which BTW) he did not survive, was 12years old.
