Well, I just returned from my first session of athletic therapy since September 2016 (took a nasty fall in October - no excuse). My therapist put a new routine together for me. Have you ever watched a nature documentary in which you got to watch in wonder and amazement the first wobbly steps of a newborn giraffe? Yeah. Well, that was me before the end of my session. 😂 I just can't wait to go down into my basement. Needless to say, I'll have a really good grip on the handrail! I don't do "down" well to begin with so having very tired quads should make it interesting. So, this is my first long-overdue (and unsteady) step to taking back control of my physical health.

Thank yoy all. When I went downstairs last evening I truely considered sitting and scooting down over the stairs on my rear end. 😁 I'm feeling much better this morning - no tired and unhappy quads. The fall was a year and a half ago and I got out of the routine while healing. I didn't go back and that was all on me.

What exactly is athletic therapy?

Athletic therapy (from provider's website): "If you've sustained an injury to a muscle, bone, or joint, book an assessment with one of our Certified Athletic Therapists. Your initial assessment will include a review of your general health history, questions regarding your current injury, a postural and gait analysis, and testing specific to your injury in order to determine the true cause and extent of your injury. Follow-up treatments will address the cause of your injury and how to prevent it from recurring in the future and may include manual therapy, electrical modalities, taping or bracing, and therapeutic exercise." Similar to but different from physio - if that makes any sense. Personally, I find it less grueling than physio.
