skitz600's Journal, 08 Feb 08

So I have been quite frustrated today. I come on this site for encouragement and to help encourage others. I try to come up with recipes to help others out. I have no idea how to change what diet my recipes are appropriate for though. I'm hoping to be healthy enough to start phase 1 again by the beginning of March. Its so hard for me to give up sweets, so I've been trying to find some cheats around this. at least until I can control myself better. Sometimes I worry because I am an all or nothing type of person. I would rather eat everything in sight or be anorexic than have control. I'm trying and it is not easy! I am thankful for the good advise and support!

Just keep trying to eat better. Each day will get a bit easier to adjust to a the new eating lifestyle. Just remember your body needs the fuel when you feel like not eating anything. Sweets are a hard thing to get rid of. I have been doing this for 10 months now and still once in awhile crave the sweets. The stevia does help. It is good that you are here and we are here wanting to support you. Hang in there baby you will be glad you did when you are 40 :)

Yep, I know how you feel. It took a while for me to come off the sweets. So I had to take baby steps because I couldn't stop cold turkey no matter what I did. So since I ate sweets everyday, I started by only eating sweets Mon-Wed-Sat. I did that for a about 2/3 weeks then did Mon-Wed. Did that for a while then I went to just Mondays. Then before I knew it, on Mondays I was saying "Nah, I'm not interested." But everybody's different. The great thing about losing weight is it's not a race. I wasn't in a hurry to lose weight so it didn't matter if I lost 2 lbs one day and gain 2lbs or more a couple days later. I simply knew I wanted to eat healthy, and to do that I needed to wean myself from bad foods in which for a person like me, I knew it would take awhile. But I did it and now I rarely eat sweets but eat mostly fruits when I get a sweet tooth. So I would say just hang in there and don't be too hard on yourself. Do what you should do on your diet and don't worry about the slip-ups because you're not perfect. Everytime you slip-up make sure your next meals afterwards are healthy and keep moving forward. I wish you well.

I read somewhere that eating an orange helps curb the sugar snacking. Good luck though, I find it helps to just not have the stuff in the house :) OR, if my child has some snacks laying around, I tell her to 'hide' them in her room somewhere so I can't see them, that's been helping a little for me.

Skitz, you appear to be on a yo-yo diet course - which will trash your metabolism thoroughly. Trying to shed weight with a trashed metabolism is next to impossible. I'd like you to consider the following Fat Flush strategies for staying on track. 1) Phase 1 is the DETOX phase and lasts 2 weeks (you can do ANYTHING for 2 weeks, right?). It's important to do it as cleanly (ie - stick to the P1 eating protocols) as possible. It is NOT NECESSARY to do P1 according to the P1 MENUS listed in the books as long as you follow the P1 eating protocols. On the weekends, make a huge batch of FF meatloaf - it will serve you as a source of dinner/lunches for upcoming week. Make a full batch of Rose's FF Soup (ditto - future lunches & dinners) both recipes are listed in the FF Book and YES! YOU MUST HAVE THE BOOK! For your daily "sweet" have a protein fruit smoothie (remember the fruit in smoothies count as one of your daily fruit servings). Another tried and true "sweet" is to mix ground flaxseed (a tablespoon, say), with a packet of stevia and dash of cinnamon. Dip apple slices in the flaxseed mix and enjoy! 2) Drink MORE WATER. Yes, this means you may be going to the bathroom more. That's a good thing! Far too many of us are so out of touch with our bodies that we think the "NEED MORE WATER!" signal is "Feed me!" D'oh! 3) Do NOT buy any food/drink/spice that is not "legal" for the Phase you are in. If it's not handy, you are less likely to eat off-plan. 4) Move to P2 after two weeks of clean P1. Follow the P2 "Friendly Carb" adding protocol carefully. Just because your MOUTH wants a particular food, it does not follow the your BODY will do well on it! 5) When you are feeling deprived, review the eating protocols for P3 - the lifestyle phase. Many of your old fave foods return then. 6) REMEMBER THIS: Your pre-FF lifestyle made you fat. Expecting to make a temporary change in diet and returning to that lifestyle later means that you WILL GET FAT AGAIN. It's therefore not enough to change your diet on a temporary basis - you must find a new way of eating. A new healthier lifestyle. Fat Flush can deliver this, but only if you stick to it. RECAP: P1 is for detoxing and rev-ing up the metabolism. P2 is for weightloss. P3 is for LIFE! Go out there and make it happen. PS. If you don't understand how to make a recipe FF "legal" - rather than post it in the recipe section, why not post it in your journal and ask for help making it FF "legal"??

Thanks for the advise! I did all the phases before but fell off because of pregnancy. I had a miscarriage and now I'm trying to get back into the flow. I have to ween myself off of caffine and sugar, but I plan to start phase 1 again as soon as march hits. I do notice that I really don't care for bread anymore and I crave sweet potatoes. Yummy! Sometimes it helps to hear the truth!
